ISLAMABAD: In a series of coordinated military operations carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from September 15 to 17, security forces successfully eliminated 10 terrorists. However, the operations came at a cost, as six soldiers lost their lives due to an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion, as reported by the military’s media branch.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) detailed that an intelligence-led operation in North Waziristan targeted a hideout after receiving credible information regarding terrorist activities in the region. During this operation, security forces engaged in fierce combat, leading to the death of six militants affiliated with the Indian-backed group known as Fitna al-Khawarij, a term used by authorities for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Additionally, four terrorists were neutralized during a separate encounter in Hangu, showcasing the ongoing efforts of security forces to combat terrorism in the area.
IED Attack Claims Lives of Six Soldiers
On September 17, tragedy struck as an IED targeted a convoy of security personnel, resulting in the martyrdom of six soldiers. This incident highlights the continual threats faced by the military in their operations against terrorism, as stated by the ISPR. In the aftermath, authorities recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the deceased terrorists, indicating their involvement in various violent activities in the region.
Operations in Awaran, Balochistan
In a related operation, security forces in the Badrang area of Awaran district in Balochistan successfully killed three terrorists. This operation was also intelligence-driven, leading to the recovery of a significant amount of weaponry and ammunition associated with the militants, who were identified as members of Fitna al Hindustan. This label is applied by the state to denote terrorist organizations operating within Balochistan.
These operations underscore the military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and maintaining stability in the region, despite the risks and sacrifices involved.
