Ather has officially reached a significant milestone as the fourth Indian manufacturer of electric two-wheelers, having surpassed cumulative retail sales of 800,000 units. This achievement was recorded on September 28, 2026, according to data from the Vahan portal. The Bengaluru-based company has seen remarkable growth, delivering 475,000 scooters since the beginning of 2025.
In the first month alone, Ather’s newly launched Konarc model sold 217 units. Currently, Ather’s flagship scooter, the Rizta, leads the sales figures, although the Konarc is anticipated to impact Rizta’s sales in the near future. Notably, Ather joins the ranks of other successful electric vehicle manufacturers in India, including Ola, TVS, and Bajaj, all of whom have also surpassed the 800,000 sales mark.
Sales Growth and Market Performance
Ola reached a total of over 1 million sales earlier this year, while TVS achieved the same milestone in August, becoming the second EV manufacturer to do so. Bajaj crossed the 800,000 sales benchmark in June. Except for Ola, the other manufacturers mentioned have exhibited consistent growth trajectories. Ather’s sales figures have seen a notable surge over the past four years, especially since 2025, when it delivered 475,000 scooters, representing approximately 59% of its total sales.
Ather’s market share grew significantly in 2023, reaching 12% when sales surpassed the 100,000 mark. The following year, the company recorded 136,000 units sold and maintained an 11% market share. In March 2026, Ather achieved its highest monthly sales to date with 36,633 units, and it has surpassed the 30,000-unit sales milestone four times since October 2025.
Introducing Konarc and Future Strategies
In August, Ather dispatched 29,694 e-scooters to dealers across India, marking the third-highest monthly wholesale figure for the company, following June and July. The Rizta accounted for 76% of these sales, while the 450 series contributed 23%. The recently launched Konarc, aimed at competing in the mass-market segment alongside models like the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak, is expected to attract customers away from the Rizta.
Despite this potential shift, Ather remains confident, as the Konarc offers a higher profit margin than the Rizta, according to Chief Business Officer Ravneet Phokela. Rather than solely competing with existing electric scooters, Ather aims to persuade owners of internal combustion engine (ICE) scooters to consider the Konarc as an alternative. With the current sales momentum, Ather is on track to conclude the year with approximately 350,000 total units sold.
