The Indian Navy has embarked on an exciting journey dubbed the ‘Fleet to Forts’ expedition, in collaboration with TVS Motor Company. This adventure features a team of 25 riders on Ronin motorcycles, who will traverse 1600 kilometers across Maharashtra over the course of the next 14 days.
The chosen route highlights ten significant forts tied to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the esteemed founder of the Maratha empire. This diverse group of riders includes both men and women, representing various ranks within the Navy.
In addition to supporting the expedition with motorcycles, TVS is providing essential technical, logistical, and media assistance to ensure the journey goes smoothly.
Objectives of the Expedition
The ‘Fleet to Forts’ mission is not only about exploring the rich history of Maharashtra but also aims to promote awareness of career opportunities within the Indian Navy. A major focus is placed on the Agnipath scheme, which is the Indian Government’s initiative for short-term recruitment of personnel below the Officer rank in the armed forces.
The expedition was officially launched yesterday by Vice Admiral Rahul Vilas Gokhale, the Chief of Staff for the Western Naval Command, alongside Mr. Vimal Sumbly, the head of business at TVS Motor Company. Captain Shekhar Deshpande will lead the group during this remarkable journey.
Beginning from Kohli Stadium in Mumbai, the riders are expected to return by October 12. Their route will take them through the heart of Maharashtra, allowing them to delve into the region’s maritime history and inspire future generations to consider a career in the Navy.

During the kickoff event, Vice Admiral Gokhale encouraged the riders to share the importance of serving the nation with pride, particularly with young Indians. His sentiments were echoed by Mr. Sumbly, who expressed that the spirit of this expedition harmonizes with the values embodied by the Ronin motorcycle. He also conveyed his honor in collaborating with the Indian Navy.
Recently, the Ronin motorcycle line introduced a new Base+ variant, available at a price of Rs 1.42 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in two attractive colors: Desert Beige and Sunlit Yellow. With this addition, the Ronin series now offers a total of four variants, ranging from Rs 1.30 lakh to Rs 1.63 lakh.
In support of the expedition, TVS has not only provided the motorcycles but also equipped the riders with necessary riding gear and continues to extend support in logistics, technical aspects, and media coverage throughout the journey.
