Toyota has introduced the 2026 version of the Glanza, with prices starting from Rs 6.99 lakh and going up to Rs 10.98 lakh (ex-showroom). This latest iteration features a significant update with the inclusion of a new Z-series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine. Although this engine is less powerful than the previous K-series 4-cylinder variant, it enhances fuel efficiency considerably. The Glanza is available in both petrol and CNG variants, equipped with a choice of either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).
The Glanza competes directly with several notable hatchbacks, including the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Tata Altroz. Notably, the i20 does not offer a CNG option, but the other competitors provide both manual and automatic transmissions across their petrol and CNG models. Below is a detailed comparison of the claimed mileage of the Glanza against its rivals.
Comparison of Petrol Mileage
When examining the petrol variants, the Toyota Glanza and Maruti Suzuki Baleno share identical claimed fuel efficiency figures, as they are essentially badge-engineered siblings. The updated Glanza, however, shows improved efficiency over its predecessor, with the petrol-MT variant boasting an increase of 1.45 km/l, and the petrol-AT variant achieving an enhancement of 1.83 km/l. Furthermore, the Glanza petrol-MT variant is found to be 4.47 km/l more efficient than the Tata Altroz, which features the same powertrain.
While the specific mileage figures for the Altroz petrol-AMT and the Hyundai i20 petrol-MT and petrol-AMT have not yet been released, it is anticipated that both the Glanza and Baleno will maintain their edge in terms of claimed fuel efficiency within the segment.
Comparison of CNG Mileage
For the CNG models, the 2026 Toyota Glanza matches the Maruti Baleno in terms of claimed mileage. Notably, the Hyundai i20 is the only premium hatchback within this segment that does not provide a CNG option, while the others offer CNG variants with both manual and automated manual (AMT) choices. The Toyota Glanza and Maruti Suzuki Baleno lead the segment with their identical CNG fuel efficiency figures, paralleling their petrol versions.
In terms of efficiency, the Glanza CNG-MT variant surpasses the Tata Altroz CNG-MT by 2.81 km/kg. However, the claimed mileage for the Altroz CNG-AMT has yet to be released. Compared to its earlier model, the Glanza CNG-MT also shows a notable improvement of 3 km/kg in fuel efficiency. Interestingly, the Tata Altroz remains unique in this segment, as it is the only premium hatchback to offer a diesel engine option, while the i20 N Line comes with a turbo-petrol engine—features that are not available in the 2026 Toyota Glanza.
