PBG Racing, based in Pune, has announced a collaboration with Ducati for its inaugural season in the Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL). This upcoming season marks Ducati’s entry into the league, joining established competitors such as Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, and Yamaha.
The third season of the ISRL is set to take place from December 2026 through February 2027. This season will feature Ducati alongside its rivals on the race grid.
Details of the Upcoming Season
ISRL races are distinctive, taking place in urban centers on specialized dirt tracks that include steep jumps and various obstacles. In previous seasons, the league presented three racing categories: 450cc and 250cc classes for international competitors, along with a 250cc India-Asia mix category. This particular category allowed Indian riders to compete against some of the world’s leading supercross talent, offering them valuable on-track experience.
For the upcoming season, a fourth category has been introduced, specifically designed to give emerging Indian riders the opportunity to enter the supercross racing scene. This new category will utilize the same 250cc motorcycles as the India-Asia mix but will be exclusively reserved for Indian participants. With every team required to include two riders in each category, Season 3 is anticipated to feature a larger number of Indian racers.
Manufacturers’ Involvement and Future Prospects
This season will also see manufacturers playing a more significant role. Earlier this year, Honda announced its partnership with BB Racing as the new title sponsor, and Ducati has now confirmed a similar agreement with PBG Racing, which is backed by the Punit Balan Group. The team will showcase the Desmo450 MX and the newly unveiled Desmo250 MX models.
Bipul Chandra, Managing Director of Ducati India, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration, stating, “We introduced Ducati’s off-road programme to India at the ISRL Season 2 finale in Calicut, and the response has been exceptional. As we honor our 100th anniversary, Ducati is proud of its racing heritage and aims to leverage this platform in India to inspire a new generation of riders and solidify our leadership in this competitive environment.”
With seven teams set to compete, ISRL Season 3 promises to be an exciting event. While three rounds of competition are scheduled, the specific locations for these races have yet to be confirmed.
