President Pezeshkian’s speech came in response to US President Donald Trump’s ultimatum to “annihilate” Iran if a diplomatic agreement is not soon reached. Pezeshkian condemned the US’s aggressive stance, highlighting the resilience of the Iranian people against sanctions and intimidation. He stressed that any potential agreement must include the lifting of the US blockade that currently restricts Iranian access to a critical Gulf waterway.
“Our resistance will only grow stronger in the face of such bullying,” Pezeshkian declared, underscoring Iran’s determination to maintain its sovereignty and rights over the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial passage for global oil and gas transportation.

The recent history of hostilities includes Iran’s retaliatory strikes in response to a joint US-Israeli attack earlier this year, which resulted in significant civilian casualties.
