During a recent boxing event in London, Dana White, the president and CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), was confronted with questions about a job offer from former President Donald Trump. The offer, which proposes White as the next White House press secretary, has yet to receive a definitive response from the UFC chief.
Meeting with Trump in Washington
White, aged 57, has remained reticent about his decision regarding the press secretary role. Instead of providing a direct answer to reporters, he has stated plans to discuss the offer with Trump during a meeting at the White House scheduled for Monday. “I am flying to Washington DC right now,” White noted, indicating a forthcoming conversation with the former president.
Trump’s Public Offer
The proposal from Trump was made public through a post on his Truth Social platform. In the announcement, Trump expressed his enthusiasm for White, referring to him as a “great fighter and warrior” and urging him to accept the position. However, the post did not specify a starting date, suggesting that the offer remains informal at this stage.
Social Media Speculation
Despite avoiding direct answers to the press, White has fueled speculation by sharing content on social media. Notably, he posted an AI-generated image of himself at the White House briefing podium with the caption “On to the next chapter,” alongside a screenshot of Trump’s offer.
A Longstanding Relationship
White and Trump share a longstanding friendship that spans over 25 years. Trump has been a frequent attendee at UFC events, which have grown into a major global sports brand under White’s leadership. The former president often highlights the UFC’s popularity as part of his political narrative.
In his Truth Social post, Trump also mentioned the possibility of White bringing six UFC fighters to the White House as advisors, including individuals from Russia and Brazil.
