Authorities in Bali have initiated an investigation following the tragic discovery of an Australian man and his two children, found deceased in their bungalow located in a well-known tourist district.
The deceased have been identified as 56-year-old Damien John Shaw and his two children, a six-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl. Their bodies were discovered in Kuta on Sunday.
According to police reports, the situation unfolded after the man’s wife expressed concern during a phone conversation with him. She, not being in Bali at the time, reached out to a neighbor for assistance, prompting them to check on the family.

Australian news outlets have indicated that law enforcement is currently treating this case as a potential murder-suicide. However, police have stated that the exact cause and manner of death have not been confirmed yet, pending further examinations.
It was revealed that the wife had been in Jakarta in the days leading up to the incident. During her conversation with her husband, she heard one of her children crying, which heightened her concern. After failing to reach him again, she decided to seek help from a neighbor.
Response from Authorities and Community
The neighbor, along with local residents, attempted to gain entry into the property when there was no response to their knocking. It was then that the three bodies were found inside.
Damien Shaw hailed from Fremantle in Western Australia, and the state’s Premier, Roger Cook, has publicly commented on the disturbing news, calling it a “very confronting situation.” He expressed condolences, stating, “This is a very sad situation; our hearts go out to everyone involved. We hope we can get to the bottom of what’s gone on as soon as possible.”
