A recent helicopter accident in a small Quebec town has resulted in the loss of four lives. The tragic event occurred approximately 50 kilometers (31 miles) from Montreal in Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville, as confirmed by provincial police.
Emergency responders were alerted to the scene shortly after 2:30 PM local time on Saturday. Upon arrival, they discovered the aircraft engulfed in flames, and unfortunately, all four individuals on board were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Underway
Although the identities of the victims have yet to be released, authorities have indicated that the helicopter was likely a private aircraft. Sgt. Audrey-Anne Bilodeau from the provincial police stated that an investigation is currently being conducted by the Major Crime Unit of the Sûreté du Québec in collaboration with crime scene specialists and representatives from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.
The crash site is situated near Rang des Écossais road, not far from Highway 10. Police reported receiving an emergency call about a helicopter in distress, leading to the discovery of the crash. By around 3:30 PM, the fire at the location had been controlled, although emergency personnel remained on site until late evening, around 10 PM, to secure the area and gather evidence.

As investigators work meticulously at the crash site, the process of identifying the deceased victims is underway. Sgt. Bilodeau noted that this could take several days, as authorities ensure that all protocols are followed in confirming their identities.
