Trump took to his social media platform on Sunday to share that the plans are being revised at the urging of the U.S. military, emphasizing their significance for national security. According to his statement, the arch will not only serve as a monument but will also be equipped to house and quickly mobilize large numbers of drones and snipers positioned atop the structure and in the plaza beneath.
He suggested that the arch would be unique in the world, boasting features that include the storage of significant quantities of sniper ammunition. However, he did not elaborate on the construction timeline or whether further approvals would be necessary to proceed with the project.
Details of the Proposed Structure
Trump’s ambitious project includes plans for a 250-foot arch, which is set to be erected across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., near Arlington National Cemetery. Initial plans indicated that construction was slated to commence this month.
A design rendering released earlier this year showcases a golden, winged Lady Liberty positioned at the apex of the arch, complemented by two gold eagles. The structure will feature the inscriptions “One Nation Under God” and “Liberty and Justice for All” in gold lettering along either side, enhancing its grandeur.
Standing at 250 feet, the arch would significantly surpass the height of the nearby Lincoln Memorial, which stands at 99 feet, and would be half the height of the iconic Washington Monument.
