Authorities in Malawi are currently probing the kidnapping of a British citizen in the city of Blantyre, the country’s largest urban area. Nusrat Osman, a 47-year-old woman, was reportedly taken by four assailants on Friday at approximately 12:30 PM local time.
The assailants, who were driving a grey Nissan Dualis, have yet to be identified, and the police have announced a reward exceeding $17,000 (£12,600) for any reliable information that could assist in rescuing Osman and bringing the kidnappers to justice.
According to reports, Osman was employed at a local auditing firm and is a mother to two young children. A local news outlet highlighted the distress of her husband, who expressed his uncertainty regarding her whereabouts and well-being. He stated, “I don’t know where she is or how she is. My wife is an auditor and I have no issues with anyone,” as reported by Nyasa Times.

Police officials have indicated that the motive for the kidnapping remains unclear. Up to this point, the kidnappers have not made any contact with Osman’s family or law enforcement.
The UK Foreign Office has acknowledged the situation, confirming that they are aware of the reports regarding Osman’s abduction and are in coordination with local Malawian authorities to address the incident. This situation has raised concerns about safety and security within the region.
As investigations continue, the police are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in the search for Osman and to help ensure her safe return.
