The recent autopsy results regarding the tragic passing of actress Hayden Panettiere have revealed that she succumbed to a drug overdose. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office in South Carolina confirmed that fentanyl, Xanax, and several other substances were found in her system.
According to the coroner, Panettiere’s death was ruled accidental, and there were no indications of trauma that could have played a role in her demise. The beloved star of “Heroes” and “Nashville” was discovered unresponsive in her South Carolina home last month, passing away at the age of 36.
Details Surrounding the Autopsy Findings
The coroner’s report indicated the presence of methocarbamol, a muscle relaxant, and quetiapine, an antipsychotic medication, in addition to the aforementioned drugs. Fentanyl, in particular, has been linked to a significant rise in overdose fatalities across the United States over the past five years.
Emergency responders attempted to perform advanced cardiac life support, but unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is reportedly collaborating with local law enforcement as part of the ongoing investigation into Panettiere’s death.
Panettiere’s Battle with Addiction
Hayden Panettiere had been candid about her struggles with addiction throughout her life, a topic she addressed in her recently published memoir. She disclosed that her journey with substance abuse began at the young age of 16, during a promotional event for “Heroes.” A member of her team allegedly introduced her to a “happy pill” to help her cope with the pressures of fame.
In her memoir, she reflected on how this initial experience opened the door to a long-term battle with addiction, stating, “As I got older, the drugs and alcohol became something I almost couldn’t live without.” Her brother, Jansen, who also faced substance abuse issues, tragically passed away at 28 from a heart condition, highlighting the family’s struggles with addiction.
