Mahindra is poised to introduce a CNG variant of its XUV 3XO on October 15, enhancing its compact SUV lineup with a fourth powertrain option. This new version will complement the existing petrol, diesel, and electric models, positioning the XUV 3XO as the third compact SUV in India to feature a CNG option, following in the footsteps of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Tata Nexon.

The teaser released by Mahindra provides an initial glimpse of both the exterior and interior of the XUV 3XO CNG, generating excitement ahead of its official launch.

Anticipated Powertrain Details

The XUV 3XO CNG is expected to be equipped with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine featuring multi-point fuel injection (MPFI), which currently delivers 111 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque in the petrol variant. Mahindra is likely to integrate a factory-fitted CNG kit with this engine.

For the petrol variant, the XUV 3XO offers both six-speed manual and automatic transmission options. Information regarding the transmission choices for the CNG version, along with specifics about the CNG tank and its installation, is anticipated to be disclosed as the launch date approaches.

Design Elements of the XUV 3XO CNG

The teaser highlights a body-colored panel situated between the headlamps, complemented by sleek metallic accents surrounding the Mahindra Twin Peaks logo. The grille design appears to be inspired by the RevX range, featuring a closed-off design that is similar in style.

Maintaining the split headlamp configuration, the vehicle also showcases LED daytime running lights. Notably, the teaser confirms the inclusion of a panoramic sunroof. Most exterior characteristics are expected to remain consistent with those of the standard XUV 3XO.

Earlier sightings of a test mule indicated additional features such as connected LED tail-lights, a rear spoiler, roof rails, and a black rear bumper adorned with a silver skid plate. Furthermore, a ‘CNG’ sticker was observed on the rear windscreen, indicating its alternative fuel capability.
